Just a thought!
There is a compromise solution:
Perhaps Jerusalem should be an independent, City State, much like The Vatican. Run by a non aligned Christian authority, it could act as a buffer between Jews and Muslims, allowing access for al religions.
It is not my favourite option but it may be more acceptable to both sides in the conflict.

You both, Gaia and Joseph, are more than probably right but I would like so see the suggestion on the table as an alternative and to gauge opinion on all sides, Israeli, Muslim and world opinion.

I see, understand your point, but I dont believe that ever the world opinion will turn against them.

We must be strong and do what it needs to be done in order to be inside secure borders, in spite of "what they will say"..... :)

I agree with everything you say but most world opinion is against Israel as the do not understand the the Muslim aim is to erase Israel, either from ignorance, fear or plain stupidity. Outwardly however they are saying they want the 1967 borders and this is what most of the world think they want.

What I have suggested is a way of calling their bluff, a solution that the rest of the world should perceive as fair. If they can't agree to something like I have suggested it will show then in their true colours and maybe turn world opinion against them.

Israel made a lot of concessions, gave territory for peace and at the end, didnt help much.

How much the world can pressure Israel to give and give more and more?

It will not work, besides Netanyahu will never accept that.

I know Gaia and I agree with your sentiment but from a practical point of view I feel there will never be peace, do you not think that what I suggested is preferable to perpetual war?

I do worry that in the long run, the enemies of Israel will become too strong. America may tire of supporting Israel, that would leave her on her own. I am looking into the future and as things stand it doesn't look good.

Other states may acquire nuclear weapons and with unstable regimes like Iran, who knows what they may risk. Mothers teach their children to commit suicide to kill Jews, they think they will go to heaven where 72 virgins are waiting for them, perhaps they are happy to risk Israel destroying them with a nuclear second strike if they can destroy Israel first.

Many Muslims think the final battle has started and the end is glorious martyrdom, they will not care how many of their people die for their evil cause.

Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Israel, and that will never change.

Was build and founded by Jews.

The Vatican and Jerusalem status cannot be comparable.
